An interesting art topic/question I could write an essay about?

Basically I'm going to spend about a year researching/writing this essay. Can you help me think of an interesting question/topic I could research about? As long as it's not about Pop art, I don't mind what the topic is. Just something interesting and will keep my interest for a while.

Just think about your interests. Writing about something for a year will be very tiring if it isn't something that has any spark to you.

What are your hobbies? What are you passionate about? What do you do in your leisure time?

If you can figure out something that you find is worth writing on for 12 months then just find a way to shape it so it will match all the criteria given to you for the essay.
 
A years research into a simple essay?
How will you ever condense downa years research that small?
Research some odd native peoples art history, in a remote area possibly might be interesting, and take long to find good info and allow you to take a year to gather what is available about it maybe?
