Andrei Kirilenko has signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Russian forward spent last season playing in Moscow after playing the previous ten seasons with the Utah Jazz. The 31-year-old reportedly signed a contract that will pay him $20 million, with the second season being a player option.
In his last season in the NBA, Kirilenko averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. While he can sometimes defer too much, he’s a talented all-around player that should help the T’Wolves improve — and possibly even make the playoffs.
For the T’Wolves, while Kirilenko will help, the cost is quite high for a player whose best season came back in 2004. That said, with the Portland Trail Blazers matching their offersheet for Nic Batum, Minnesota didn’t have much choice.
