Any body know about iPods?

I was wandering if instead of taking the music from my CD's and external hard drive and storing it on my computer (in iTunes), is there a way I can directly put it on the iPod without eating up memory on the computer. I've tried dragging the music into the iPod but it comes up as an 'other' file and appears "invisible" on the iPod. Any suggestions?

there are devices that will allow you to just put songs directly from a cd to your pod, there is no computer involved.

You can always transfer it to your iPod using iTunes and then delete the song from the computer.

no cause you have to go from itunes on your computer to get the music to your ipod.

it prevents stealing of songs.
