Any tips on how to increase my car's performance?

I drive a 1998 Nissan Sentra GXE. I have just finished adding exterior/interior upgrades to my car, and i now want to work on the engine to increase performance (more hp) etc. any ideas/tips such as like new intake, etc.?

I know its going to cost a bit but im looking for the least expensive parts
