Any tips on how to stop a kitten crying/meowing very loudly all night?

My kittens 5 months he's such a loving friendly cat he just loves company .... Probably a bit too much as when he's on his own all he does is meow n he's not a quiet cat at all
I have another cat ( his mum) but she's in and out as she pleases he could go out if he wanted to bit refuses to leave my back door!!
 
It's probably because you haven't neutered him yet, have you? Kittens can reach sexual maturity as young as four months and when those hormones start raging the males just want to get out and mate, mate, mate. If you haven't altered him I do hope you've altered the mother so she doesn't end up pregnant by him - or another cat since you let them free roam?

If he is altered then he could just be lonely. Stop letting her out and give them both a bit of playtime with you before bedtime to wear them out.

And if he isn't altered get it done ASAP. It could have been done as young as eight weeks.
 
You could get another kitten to make him not feel as lonley.
