Any way of telling that an unlocked phone you buy will work on Telus

before you buy it? I was looking on unlocked phones and I looked on the telus website and they did say that the supported some non telus devices, but to check you need the IMEI # which you cant obviously get till you have purchased the phone. I defiantly want to stay with telus regardless I was just hoping I could get a phone that didn't have to be with them. Also I am on prepaid so can you use an unlocked phone on telus using only prepaid?
 
The IMEI number check only applies to unlocked HSPA compliant phones. You are probably on the CDMA/PCS prepaid network. If this is the case then you can only use an actual TELUS phone and not one from another carrier.
