Anybody own a volkswagen Jetta?

Yup, I've had two. A 1996 GL and I currently have a 1997 GLX. To really answer your question it would be helpful to know what year of Jetta you are looking into.

My wife and I own and love our 2005 Jetta.
Its the Valueline Edition, which means its a basic Jetta, no frills. We also opted for the 5-speed transmission with the 2.5 litre engine.
New it cost us $17k.
Our trusty Jetta is now approaching the 100,000 mile mark. The car is just phenominal; absolutely rock solid. No repairs other than 2 sets of brake pads, tires and the regular maintenance [oil/filter changes, etc]. Oh, and 1 headlite bulb at $8.00!
The Jetta is our daily driver and vacation vehicle combined. With the VW roof rack, all we do is attach our kayaks and or bikes and roll... It has a humongous trunk for all our gear too.
Great car! Cannot think of any bad things other than I think its suspension is too soft. However, thats where my GTI comes in; it was made to be a bit stiffer for sporty handling.
If you want stiffer suspension for carving the roads, then the Jetta GLI is the car to get.
But our Jetta is just the way my wife likes it. And when she's happy , I'm happy...

My dad owned the 2004 vw jetta and it was amazing, great on the road fast and its great to tune up.
