Twilight is so pathetic... I tried to read Twilight as well and as a "Dracula", folklore, and Anne Rice fan, found it very lacking, to say the least. Sorry, if the vampire, and I use the word loosely here, wants you, he will just eat you, no love. Vegetarian vampires, sounds pretty pathetic to me. I am an English teacher and in all honesty cannot find a single positive about this book series. If you want good vampire lit, read "Dracula" or Anne Rice and a great movie is "Shadow of the Vampire" with John Malkavich and Willem DeFoe. The vampire in there is so cool and creepy, very fun. I also agree the characters are stock and flat. Bella is rather snobbish coming and appearing better than everyone else and Edward is the typical tortured soul. My biggest beef came with explanation that they can't go out in the day because they are so beautiful they shimmer! WTF! It should be because they will fall away to dust. They are the undead after all. You know, blood sucking corpses. *sigh* As my brother would say, never underestimate the buying power of teenage girls.
