Yes! I have finally found a site where people are like-minded! Before I start, I do want to say that at first, I was a little.....obsessed. However, after I stepped back and really looked at what the author wrote, I am horrified. The Twilight Saga has got to be one of the most ridiculous stories ever published. I can't believe it is aimed towards children between the ages of 11-14. It gives them a false sense of a relationship. Can you honestly build a relationship on looks and smells? That is Bella and Edward's entire relationship. Also, it’s ok if your boyfriend stalks/watches you. It’s all good! Good grief, I would be screaming bloody murder and running to the police to get a restraining order against him. But then again, Bella doesn’t have any common sense. The characters have absolutely no depth to them at all. Yes Stephenie, we all understand that Edward is “hot” and has a deep velvety voice. We also understand within the first five pages that Bella doesn’t care about anyone but herself. Yes, she’s clumsy, but that isn’t a flaw. It’s no fun reading about “perfect” characters. I understand that it’s supposed to be fantasy, but can’t the characters be a little bit realistic too? All Bella does is whine and, quite frankly, it is very annoying. I don’t care how often the book says (or Edward likes to think) that she is mature, she most definitely is NOT. Honestly, she is the maturity of a chicken. Overall, she has got to be the biggest Mary-Sue I have read in published literature. Another deep hole in the story – they fall “in love” way to quickly. You can’t fall in love with someone you don’t know. It’s called an obsession, a infatuation, a CRUSH. Yes, Bella, that is what you and Edward have. A wonderfully, sickening little crush. There was some small part of me that had hoped that they would mature as the books progressed. Sadly, that small part of me died as I kept on reading the saga. I got halfway through the third one and had to put it down, even when I WAS a rabid-fan girl. Even then I knew that it was wrong! I haven't really read that many vampire books, but the fact that Meyer's vampires sparkle, is just .......SAD. Where are the fangs?? I could continue on a ten-page rant on this subject, but I won’t. For those who haven’t read it: Please, SPARE YOURSELF. It is not worth reading! If anything, read Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, or Wuthering Heights! Those are REAL literature books!
