Why twilight is damaging the minds of young people. The relationships in the film are extremely false and are ridiculous. “Well you have to read the book to fully understand them,” some twilight fans have said to me. No thank you. Watching the movie was painful enough. What young girl doesn’t dream about being the center of attention and having all her peers adore her? Bella show up on her first day of school and she instantly has a group of friends. They adore and admire her from the moment she walks threw the doors. The girls fallow her around and seek her approval and all the boys in the school seem to be instantaneously infatuated with her. Does anybody actually remember what it was like to be in grade school? It’s a horrible confusing, terrifying, socially awkward time for everyone, especially for the new kids in school. In reality the first day at a new high school is like trying finding your way through a pitch black room (unfamiliar surroundings), full of poisonous snakes (mean kids). The story plays into an unrealistic fantasy of misleading expectations. If elementary and middle school children expect high school friendships be anything like the way they are portrayed in Twilight, they are going to be sorely disappointed. Almost as disappointed as all the adult women who are reading the series and watching the films to relive an unfulfilled adolescent time. “My teenage years were horrible; let me fill in all empty places in my heart with Edward… Get the vibrator.” Edward is an over-romanticized, horribly unrealistic male character. In the beginning of the story he is portrayed as mysterious, deep, tortured and brooding (He’s perfect masturbation material.) Of course his actions are fully explained later. Bella gets a logical reason which makes all his behavior rational and acceptable. He is a vampire… who SPARKLES… please!!!!!!!! Here is a very important message for all young girls, and adult women who are too unintelligent to have figured this out for themselves, IF A GUY IS DARK, BROODING OR ACTING SOCALLY AKWARD IT IS BECAUSE HE HAS PSYCOLOGOCAL PROBLEMS. There are no secret reasons for it. He is not freaking out over you, he is just freaking out. He is NOT going to turn out to be Mr. Wonderful. Young women tend to think, “Maybe he really likes me, but he just can’t really show it. Forget him, and find a guy who had enough social skills to behave friendly. But of course the film does such a good job of portraying real emotions. “We’re in love!” Well thank you Bella for telling the audience about your emotional state. We didn’t see any character development or chemistry in the plot, so thank you for letting us know how you feel about each other.
