Anyone else having your V-Day plans restricted because of your sexuality?
My girlfriend and I have been going out since December 07, and we only "came out" as a couple this past November 4th. Everyone at school, and 3 of our parents, range from accepting to incredibly supportive. Her mother, however, does not accept her daughter's sexuality, hasn't let her sleep over at my house since October, and only lets me see her maybe once every month on weekends. We deal with this, but this weekend is Valentine's Day, and we get a max of 3 hours together. Everyone in a couple around me - solely straight couples and in-the-closet gay ones, so far - keeps telling me all about their amazing V-Day weekend that they have planned, and it just really upsets me, because I won't get that. Not in a jealous way - I'm not really a jealous person - but I do feel really upset about it every time I think about it. Anyone else getting restricted because of what gender the person they are dating is? I totally get that I'm lucky to see her at all, and I know I'm being selfish and whiny. ^^ I'm not like this usually, it just... means a lot to me. And I hate that even four months later, her mother is still very, very against us. I've been in long-distance relationships before, and while those are most certainly hard, there is something incredibly ironic and awful about right next to each other but unable to see each other. I don't mean to invalidate you Spooky, or anyone else, it's just a special kind of torture.
