Anyone know of free software to convertt DIVX formats to MPEG4?

I have downloaded some films on DIVX format on put them on DVD-R discs. I cannot watch them on my dvd player but can watch them on PS3 console. How can i change the format from divx when downloading. Any one know of any free software and what I have to do. Thanks any constructive advice would be helpful
 
download a software called 'super' by erightsoft. it is a great free convertor which converts nearly everything to anything!
