Apple TV or Blu-Ray?

Should I get Apple TV or a Blu-Ray payer?

I am based in the UK...not that it makes a diference now with HD movie rentals. Apple TV is so easy and convenient to watch films on BUT Blu-ray is higher quality, has better surround sound options BUT menas buying/renting physical Blu-ray discs...help please!!!
