Iran Helps Hamas To Censor Internet

GAZA CITY [MENL] -- Iran has supplied equipment and technology to enable theHamas regime to censor the Internet in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian sources said the Hamas regime has received from Irantraining and equipment required to track and censor Internet traffic. Thesources said Hamas was beginning to use the equipment to track Fatah andother dissidents in using the Internet to communicate with their supportersabroad. Hamas has acknowledged that it has begun to track the Internet. Theregime said it was installing filters in Internet cafes to block pornographysites. The sources said the real reason of the Hamas campaign was to preventanonymous Internet cafes to be used as a communications centers by theopposition Fatah movement. They said Fatah was receiving orders and financesfrom the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank as well as Saudi Arabia.
