Are computer component wholesalers significantly cheaper than newegg.com?

I'm interested in possibly purchasing computer components and operating systems at wholesale prices from dealers like Ma Labs, ASI-Corp, Ingram-Micro, etc., for the purpose of building and selling PCs.

So, for example, I can get a copy of Windows XP Pro for about a $140 (for system builders) at newegg.com. Or I can get the latest AMD Phenom II X4 CPU for 230$.

How do these prices compare to those of wholesalers? Do the wholesalers generally require bulk purchases? If so, what's an example of a minimum number of, say, CPUs I could buy? 10, 20, 500?

Or is this privileged information that resellers have to promise never to leak out? (If so, I understand).

(I just don't feel like actually getting a sales-tax ID from my state and a business license just to see IF its something I'm interested in and can manage financially).

Thanks.
