Are DirectX and Xvid safe to download and use?

A message on some sites say DirectX may harm my computer. No such message appears for Xvid.. I think I need both applications to watch Xvid movies. Neither of these came with my computer, and I'm not sure whether to download them, or not to.

it depends on the site you download them from. directx is from microsoft, xvid is just a format. they are ok, just download them from a trustworthy site.

Unless its on these sites then your good to go installing them.
