Are guns part of our culture?

I hear from Europeans that we have no culture, but are guns part of our culture? The US has a history of building guns and reloading our own ammo since the 1700's. Some universities even offer courses in Ballistics as a minor to Physics. Brazil sends special forces to train at US Army sniper schools. Many other countries send Olympians to North Dakota to train as marksmen.
