I've noticed that with gas prices so high, I see a lot of nice used Jeeps for sale for around $5,000 with only 80-100k on them. I'm thinking that if I buy one straight out, even if I have to spend $300 a month in gas to drive it, it beats $175 in gas, $150 for a car payment, and then an extra $40 for full coverage insurance to drive something more fuel efficient but smaller and less versatile. The only hole I could see in my logic is if the maintenance costs on the Jeeps are really high. I can do some basic maintenance and minor repairs myself to save money there. So, how reliable are these things at around 100k, and how hard are they to maintain and repair?
