Are the outer CV joints of 2001 Hyundai Elantra part of the axle?

I've been told my elantra needs an outer CV joint. I've ordered these parts. When replacing this part, does the whole axle need to be replaced/taken out of the vehicle? This is a Elantra GLS sedan.
