Hi, I am a 20 yr old female and I was on augmentin (875 mg 2x daily for 10 days) for sinus/ear/urinary tract infections. I had no side effects besides 1 dilated pupil towards the last day of my treatment. Sure enough my symptoms came back about a week later..so I went to the doctor and they prescribed me amoxicillin (500 mg 3x a day for 14 days). As soon as I started taking the pills I felt dizzy and nauseous but upset stomach was listed as a side effect so I thought nothing of it. I hadn't noticed that my pupils were dilated until 5 different people asked me at different times what was wrong with my eyes. I started watching them and my right pupil was noticeably larger than my left, especially at night. Also, I noticed shortly after I take a pill my mind becomes very foggy and I have been losing my train of thought or just forgetting what I am saying or doing in the middle of it..I completely forgot several of my family members names yesterday. It took me literally 1 minute or 2 to remember. I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure was low..89/70..and the nurse was surprised that it was so low but they did not address it any further because she said it was kind of low the last visit (which is weird b/c my blood pressure is usually normal to high). They checked me out and said my eyes looked fine and that they didnt believe that any of these were signs of an allergy or side effect & to continue the medication. I am to get an MRI of my brain tomorrow to make sure everything is okay. In the meantime, I haven't taken the medication and have been drinking lots of water and my eye has returned to the normal size..my sister is very allergic to penicillins but I don't ever recall being allergic myself? I was just wondering if these could be signs of an allergy? I am going to ask for a new antibiotic tomorrow.
