I had called the non-emergent number to report church bells in the city of Eau Claire for noise violation and they told me they were not going to take a statement, not going to investigate, and not going to "waist time on this."

Doesn't this mean I should sue the city under eau claire's statute regulating "aiding and abetting noise ordinance violation."

I urge you all to report noise violations and other crimes that you see.

That's exactly what it means (if you're a sue happy pos).

Life is much happier if you don't sweat the small stuff.

Do the words "Separation of church and state" come to mind. Ringing those bells is "free exercise of religion" protected by the First Amendment.

I agree.
It should be no more legal for a church to ring its bells, than it is for you to play your stereo loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear it. If I were to drive around repeatedly blowing my car horn and claim that it's just an expression of my religious beliefs, the cops would give me a ticket. Freedom of religion and expression is not a defense for creating a noise nuisance, and it's obvious that the government is illegally showing favoritism towards churches.

No church bells are NOT a city NOISE violation because they do NOT go 24/7, nor are they rung at midnight or between then and 7 am.. The ONLY thing that is a NOISE violation is LOUD music after Midnight and before 7am and any YARD , ROAD or Maintenance work before those times..
That is why they would NOT take your statement it is NOT a violation
SORRY

LOL You have a very good point, but unfortunately, completely 1-sided arguments and truths are not enough for the court, or the people. Which is why marijuana is still illegal.

Because you object to the sound of bells, or because you object to the presence of churches?

Well, I'm sure your lawyer will get paid even if you lose, so go ahead.
