I'm guessing that limewire is out of the question, because people tell me that it has many viruses. So well I'm looking for the safest p2p software, which means the least viruses and spyware. I also want the fastest one for downloading music, just music or maybe music videos. so which one is the safest and fastest for downloading music?

ya they all risky, not because of the software, but because you are using it to download files from unknown sources (ie other peoples computers, as opposed to reputable file servers). Anyhoo, utorrent is the most popular, limewire popular too (frostwire better though, as has already been pointed out), azureus is good if you like pretty gui's.

Make sure you have a good virus scanner, regularly updated, and scan everything you download.

By the way,the 'fastest' client is probably bittyrant.

There is no such thing as a "safe" P2P program. No matter what you use, you can encounter malware. The simplest solution is to not download any malware. They are rather obvious on Limewire. Anyone with any common sense knows that a song cannot be only 119 kb. So don't download any unusually small files. If you are unsure if a file is safe, right-click it, and go to "Advanced> Lookup file with Bitzi."

I use Frostwire, as it gives you the speed of Limewire Pro for free.
