I had a run in with my Partner's daughter yesterday in front of her mom, over something silly really.
we were both raising our voices, and shouting for about approx 2 mins.
I then said that I couldm't give a f***, and don't tell me to shut the f*** up.
She then proceeded to call me a p****, and told me to f*** off. Split second
reaction, I then told her to f*** off.
Her Brother (21yrs) who is extemley protective of his sister, came back home after hearing all about it guns blazing and fuming.
He said that he would not tolerate anybody swearing at his sister etc etc, and if I wanted a fight to step outside.
He then proceeded to give me a right mouthful, to which I listened and didn't have a go back and just sat there, and mumbled point taken.
I then went to drop my son off, and came back approx 45 mins later. He apologised for coming in all guns blazing.
We all (Mom, Sister, Brother, Me) then had a brief chat a bit later on when things were calmer, and had a pleasant chat to
try to resolve some issues.
Now, I am 35 and the thing that grieves me is that I didn't put him in his place. Had I have done then I am sure that my relationship
would have been over for good, as it would of escalated into something a lot worse.
Pls tell me that I shouldn't feel less of a man for not retaliating. Why did I tolerate it, as I am generally hot headed.
