my friend and i have a formal debate on tuesday, so we want creative arguments with evidence from historical US documents (i.e. constitution) or universities, or any reliable sources, against same sex marriage that the opposing team won't be prepared for, or will be hard to argue against. thanks in advance! oh, and these are our arguments so far:
Homosexuals should be free to do whatever else they want, but when the government gets involved, they aren’t just minding their own business, but imposing it on all citizens
Marriage is a religious occurrence, and for the government to interfere with religion is against the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.
The majority of people in the U.S. voted against same sex marriage the last time it was brought up. To go against the will of the people is unconstitutional.
A couple doesn’t need to be married to be happy. Anyone can be happy, free and comfortable without necessarily getting married.
oh, and any changes, tweaks, or any constructive criticism is welcome on these arguments
