Hi I'm doing an Astronomy Quiz and have completed it, was wondering if these are the correct answers. (The Answers are in nracket)

1. The _____ (Kepler Mission) was used to find a jupiter-sized planet through careful measurements of the changing positions of stars.

2. Discovering planets through the _______ (Doppler Technique) requires obtaining and studying many spectra of the same star.

3. The ______(GAIA Astrometric Mission) is currently searching for planet transits around some 100 000 stars.

4. The ______(Transit Technique) is used to find extrasolar planets by carefully monitoring changes in the star's brightness with time.

5. The ______ (Astrometric technique) is being designed to measure very small changes in stellar positions, which should allow it to discover many extrasolar planets.

6. Proposed plans for the ______ (Terrestrial Planet Finder mission) would someday provide us with the first actual images and spectra of the terrestrial worlds orbiting other stars.

The options were
a. Kepler Mission
b. Doppler Technique
c. Terrestrial Planet Finder mission
d. Astrometric technique
e. GAIA Astrometric Mission
f. Transit Technique

Please check if these are correct.
Thanks :)
Nope.. apparently 3 are incorrect, one which is Astrometric technique.. Hmm any help please?

Yep. Well, you clearly tried and aren't just trying to get me to do your homework, so I'll help.

1. Though Kepler has found Jupiter-sized planets, it's also found smaller ones... lots of them. And, it's in the process of hunting for more. I THINK this is where you should use Astrometric Technique, since it was the technique which found the first extrasolar planets, which were massive gas giants.

2. Right.

3. GAIA doesn't launch until 2013, and this question is asking for a CURRENT mission. However, this is a very good description of the Kepler Mission.

4. Right.

5. THIS would be a good description for GAIA, since it's intended to make incredibly precise astrometric measurements. The Astrometric Technique isn't being developed; it's the first technique to successfully discover extrasolar planets. HOWEVER, I can see why you picked this one, since the astrometric technique DOES rely upon measuring small changes in stellar positions. GAIA will be an advanced platform to use this technique.

6. Correct!
