We have at&t dsl. We just got it about a month ago and our understanding was that you could be on the phone or whatever and still be on the internet. But, now when ever the phone even rings there goes the internet! Anyone else ever have this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thanks

Do you have phone filters on any and all phone devices, phones, answering machine, fax machine, dial up or fax modem. Basically anything connected to the phone line except the DSL modem itself should be filtered. My water meter is read by phone, so I have a filter on that. Phone or fax use should not affect your DSL at all (unless using WiFi and 2.4 GHz cordless phones). 900 MHz and 5.8 GHz phones do not interfere with my WiFi.

If you need your DSL line checked, the best place to do that is the AT&T Direct forum at http://www.dslreports.com/ [you have to register (free)]. Include the phone number of the line the DSL is on (only you and AT&T techs can see what you post on that forum).
