...to live by Christ's example? I take the (seemingly unpopular) position that those who actually do make a sincere effort must be worthy of some respect.

Christ, whether he actually existed or not, was all about peace, love, mutual respect and selflessness. He promised no material reward, and a real Christian, IMO, should expect none. I only have a problem with those who distort his message or ignore it.

As for me, I don't need a preacher or holy book to try to live my life that way. And I find it somewhat unfortunate that a person would need such things to encourage them, but it is not necessarily worthy of disdain. After all, it is the result that matters, is it not?

The only problem is that so many of those who would call themselves Christian simply don't seem to adhere to the positive teachings of Christ.

Do you agree or disagree? Why?
