I took my 1997 Audi A4 to the shop today b/c there was a "groaning" noise coming from my drivers side front tire area everytime i came to a stop/hit a bump in the road. The shop told me that the bushings in my lower control arm were dry and that they had lubed it up, but that I needed to replace the lower control arm and lower control link (and also an alignment after it was all done). Any insights?
3 Questions:
1.) Is this worthwhile to do now, or do I wait and see if the lubrication does the trick?
2.) How necessary is this repair, i.e. safety-wise?
3.) How much should something like this cost? I am being quoted roughly $300 for each of the parts and then about 3.5 hours of labor.
Thanks in advance for your help!
