Hey, my family currently has a 2000 BMW 328i with about 125k miles, and we're seriously considering selling it because of the repairs and problems it has (we went to a free dealership diagnosis once, and it had a TON of problems that MIGHT pop up). And in truth, it does seem to be showing more issues lately. Basically, we're afraid that it'll get worse as the miles keep coming, so the easiest solution is to get rid of it!

We're considering a 2002-2005ish Audi A4 with a little bit less mileage (90-100k). I'm assuming that the Audi's reliability and maintenance costs going to be the same as the BMW's, but are there any significant differences that we should consider? Is the Audi slightly better, worse, or just dead even with the BMW in terms of dependability?

I know going from high-maintenance German to German is kind of a foolish decision, but it's better than buying a 2-seater coupe, in my opinion. That was the other choice.
