OK, i currently have a test drive in an Audi A3 2.0 T.

2006
19000 miles
leather seats
ipod prep
S Line kit
19" alloys
1 owner
approved used audi
3 door

Firstly how much shoudl I pay for that? I am trading my car in which they have agreed to give me £2500 for.

And secondly, how can I persuade the dealer to knock off some more cash...

Thanks

Check out the value of both cars on Glass' website, it'll cost you 3.50 each but its well worth it. The used car market is in a right mess, be prepared to walk away, tell the sales rep you need a better deal or you'll need to "go away and think about it", which a sales rep hears as "I'm off pal, you'll never see me again". Go back a few days later and see what they offer you.

Try and get a years road tax and new mats, or at least £300 more for your trade in.

Parkers Guide price as suggested below isn't recognised in the motor trade, Glass' Guide is the motor traders bible.

At an Audi dealer, expect to pay £12,750;

A private sale is only £1,000 cheaper, so don't expect a big discount. Try a deal without your part ex, at £2,500 they won't really want your old car & selling it privately may give you more leverage.

Hi
A 2006 Audi A3 2.O T with 19000 miles and 1 owner is worth £15000

Look in auto trader to see how much the car is in there. There is also an official price list but I don't know what its called. You could try googling it. If you can offer the dealer cash and you may get a discount or say "I found it for £xxxx somewhere else" and see what he says. Its definitely a buyers market at the moment.
