Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts - Components (gadgets, fold wings, etc)?

Argh! How can I get the components of my vehicle to be permanently stationary!? They keep changing, and some of them disappear after I do a challenge or turn the system on later.
How can it be permanent?
