BBC and Responsibility?

Unlike other television network which creates their revenue through advertising; thus there have the luxury of doing what they like!!!
Should the BBC who demands license fee be representing blacks, and gays, or disabled people, without insulting or stereotyping these groups? For example:
1 gays are promiscuous

2 Disables don't live a full life, but are miserable and moaning about their plight

3. Black men usually portrayed as thugs, or pimps, or irresponsible fathers living in a dysfunctional home.

Considering that all the above groups pay tv licensing to the BBC, should this network be culpable for insults or stereotypes to minority groups?

Can you give examples of the BBC promoting any of the above stereotypes?
 
Yes they should represent all groups without stereotyping. I think on the whole they do a good job.

As far as I know the black blue peter presenter isn't a pimp or dysfunctional and nor is Reggie (co-presenter with Fearne Cotton). Also, many years ago Eastenders had a black doctor who was represented as upstanding.

As for gays and disabled people - can't think of anything really apart from Phoenix Nights!

Don't forget stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason! Sorry to be un PC - but it's true - so obviously there will be a little bit of it displayed. Eg the Irish are thought of as sensitive, emotional, fun loving, prone to singing and dancing (and depression) and are heavy drinkers......Well that just about sums up 2/3 of my relations!!!!!
