I quote from my Art History notes:
1st quote:"Romanesque style also required that the East Tower have bells on the very top."
And 2nd quote: "Big difference between France and Italian churches are that France churches, the bell towers attached to west end of church while at the Italian, the bells could be anywhere."
So I find these two quotes contradicting, the 1st one says East, and the 2nd one says West. So where are the bell towers located in France, East or West with respect to the church?
Thanks a lot!
