Bernard Hopkins is proving that age is just a number. At the young age of 46 years and four months, Bernard Hopkins won the WBC light heavyweight title by defeating Jean Pascal on Saturday night. Hopkins dominated the action all night long and took home victory via a unanimous decision.
Making the win even more impressive was the fact that Hopkins won the fight on Pascal’s turf. Pascal is from Montreal and the fight took place in Montreal. After the fight, the Canadian couldn’t help but give Hopkins props.
“He’s a great champion,” said Pascal. “He has great defense and a lot of tricks.”
Despite his age, Hopkins appears to be in great shape. He never got tired and, in fact, appeared to get stronger as the fight progressed.
Hopkins has no plans of stopping any time soon.
Said Hopkins: “I won’t retire until I’m 50.”
