Besides dieting, what is a great way for a flatter stomach?

I have heard that taking plastic wrap and wrapping your stomach works. I have also heard about crunches. How many a day do you think? what other exercises would be great? does running take part in this? and by getting a flatter stomach, how much weight could be lost while doing this?
actually I am a diabetic and I am doing track sooo yep.
