Bizarre Technology from the past, present or future?

I need an article about an interesting/cool/bizarre technology for my computer application class. It could be from the past, present or even the future (ideas that they are thinking about). Got any ideas? Anything that would shock people (not in an inappropriate way, though)?

brainwave control is interesting - and you can demonstrate it in class if you have a computer with a sound system!
CES (a different approach, connecting electrodes to the head) sounds highly dangerous - shocking!
