BlackBerry 6 OS on BB Bold 9650?

Hi, so I have a Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Bold 9650, with the old 5.0 version. When I check for updates for the BB 6, it says "Unable to send request for available updates". Can anyone with the Verizon Bold get the new update, and is it available for people to use?
