i am writing an article...
i need some info on the blu-ray disc..

1. What is the difference between Blu-ray and DVD's?
2. Do you think they will replace dvd's in the future?
3. What are they really? lol....
any other info is appreciated thank you!!!

Blu-Ray is the new prevailing HD platform. It is not likely that Blu-Ray will be replacing DVD any time soon because of the extraordinary costs. The cheapest blu-ray player is 400 dollars so it is far more economical to buy a dvd player for 30 dollars. Blu-Ray uses a laser that emits coherent light in a narrower wavelength because this wavelength is narrower it can read and write pits and lands far smaller then what is used for traditional optical media.

1. DVD's hold 8.5GB of information so it can't hold the Hi Def information. Blu-ray also uses a Blue Laser with is more efficient then the old Red laser the normal DVD uses.

2. Yes it will replace DVD... people only ever need MORE SPACE... the 8.5GB on a normal DVD is not enough for us anymore.

3. Blu-ray is upto 50GB of information on it.
