I have attempted to use the new blu-ray drive i have recently installed. When i enter a disk in the blu-ray drive, the computer is having trouble reading the disk as i am using windows XP on my computer. I have been to sony.com and the download link is not available for the blu-ray drive i have purchased because they no longer sell the blu-ray drive i have. Blu-ray drive SONY BWU-100A. Can anyone help?? Do you know any other websites where i can download the software to use this product?? Thanks
this fixed it

Please remove your secondary IDE channel from the Device Manager. To do this:

1. Right click on My Computer and then left click on properties.
2. Choose hardware tab.
3. Select Device Manager.
4. Click on the + in front of IDE/ATAPI controller.
5. Right click on secondary IDE and then choose uninstall.
6. Restart your computer.

I'm no genius but Ive had a similar problem with one of my optical drives, i read around i bit and alot of things pointed me towards flashing/updating my firmware for the drive. I went to the website for the brand name of my optical drive and easily found the firmware update and did it in about 5 minutes. I don't know if you know what flashing/updating your firmware is or how to do it, but i can tell you its not that complicated...i sure didn't know anything about it before i had problems with my drive and i didn't any have trouble doing it. I went to Sony.com and i think i found the firmware update for your drive (BWU100A), just download the firmware update and the tutorial and you should be fine. If that doesn't work you might wanna look at the cable connecting the drive to the motherboard and make sure thats hooked up right. If you still cant figure it out you might wanna call Sony you might have a defective drive. Hope this helps/fixes your problem, goodluck.
