Blue-Ray to iPod/iPhone?

Right, i used to be a dvd person, bought dvd's and then would make rip a back up to my portable ipod/iphone, so i can watch it on the move, im considering, getting bluerays now...as i have a blueray player...but can i do the same as i did before, make back up's to my ipod..if so do i need any new hardware..or can i use my normal dvdrw drive that i currently have

You will need a blu-ray drive. The compressed video will be huge.
