blueray player speakers play sounds but not the characters voices?

whats going on, i'm watching halloween 2 and it plays the music and noise but not the sound of the characters voices....whats up?
its a panasonicsa_Bt300, pretty new so it should be up to date, no reciver is with it just the blue ray and i have 2 frontspeakers and a sub connected with an hdmi cable,
