Bob 5-1 clock from brookstone keeps changing modes randomly.?

I recently bought two clocks from brookstone. One clock changes rapidly from mode to mode, another does it slower, but still changes from time to time. I have turned off the "Mode" button on the bottom of the clock, but yet it still keeps doing this. I have even tried different batteries! Is this something I'm doing or should I take it back to brookstone and try for another clock?
 
Did you ever find a solution? Mine does the same thing. (At least when I turned on MODE LOCK, it doesn't beep or change mode, but it does light up randomly, killing the battery life.)
