My boyfriend and I are seniors in high school. We're both 18 and virgins and last night we got on the topic of our physical relationship. I think we came to the conclusion that we'll begin discussing having sex more seriously and weighing the pros and cons once we've graduated high school, and then depending on our future plans regarding college and so forth, possibly doing it. I figured I'd start birth control in a couple months, even though we don't plan on doing anything for a while, because sex is something we're both thinking about and working towards and, well, let's face it, accidents happen, and I want to be prepared just in case something happens earlier than planned. (although I don't think it will) Anyway, while I was researching the different types of birth control (i'll probably go with the pill) I read that it was 99% effective. and at first I thought that was pretty good, until I started thinking about it a little more and realized that means 1 in 100 girls get pregnant on birth control. I don't want to risk being that one. Of course, if/when we do do anything, he'll wear a condom as well, but I'm freaking out still. Are there any other percautions I can take?
