Brown vaginal discharge?

I have been sick with this unknown virus for about 12 days now. My doctor said its not the common cold. He said there is nothing he can do and just suggested that I let it run its course. My mom and aunt and friend also have it. It started out with a high fever, then cough (yucky green mucus), stuffy/runny nose, and severe headache. The cough is just about the only thing that remains now. Well, about 3 days into the sickness I noticed this tan colored discharge in my underwear then a few days later it turned completely brown, almost black. Sometimes it even comes out in little chunks, not just liquid. No one else I know that has this virus has any discharge at all, I'm the only one. What's causing this? Should I be worried?
