The Milwaukee Bucks needed a starting center. During the season, they traded away Andrew Bogut as part of the deal that brought in Monta Ellis. On Wednesday, the Bucks were able to get Bogut’s replacement. In a trade with the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee acquired center Samuel Dalembert.
To make the deal happen, the Bucks sent the Rockets the 12th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft along with Jon Leuer, Shaun Livingston and Jon Brockman. In return, the Bucks got Dalembert and the 14th pick in the draft.
Last season, Dalembert averaged 7.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 50.6% from the floor. He bring defense, rebound and shotblocking to a team that can really use those traits.
As for the Rockets, this trade allowed them to move up two spots in the draft. In doing so, Houston is hoping they are gaining the pieces to make a large splash to acquire a superstar such as Dwight Howard.
