burnig a movie ,avi or xvid or divx onto dvd with vista dvd maker?

can any 1 pls help having probs with vista dvd maker trying to get a avi file on to a dvd it all gos on a burns but on play back on the dvd it plays half way then start slowing down and freezing and the sound gos the the dvd just stops and freezes , why is this is it the burn speed or the file any info would be gratefull thanks all
 
These symptoms sound like the discs you are using as opposed to anything you have done wrong in the burning process. Try a different type of disc - Verbatim are usually ok and quite cheap.
