Buyer & Co-buyer?

My fiance finally got a car after being promised it for years from his grandmother who is VERY manipulating and coniving. She ended up being the co-buyer and My fiance the buyer. Now if we wanted to just take off and move away from her because she's on a power trip and she got us in this perdicament in the 1st place, would we get in trouble just for takin off? Like could she report it stolen or anything of that sort.My other question is, she would have to sign as well as my fiance if we decided to sell it right? ( It's a piece of crap).Thanks guys!***I'm not ungrateful, you do not know this woman. She's crazy literally crazy, she even takes pills & goes to a therapist for it! She made us lose our apt needless to say we HAD to move in here because of her which is what she wanted in the 1st place. ***As far as I was told, it was bought flat out, it's already paid for in full. My fiance is the buy and she's the co signer.What if both names are on the title?
 
whose name is on the title?As far as I am aware, if his name is on the title and she was just the co-signer (usually needed for someone who doesnt have great credit) then it should be ok if the car if fully paid for.check the title and see whose name is on it.
 
IF it was bought with cash (no loan) you will have a title for the car (if you have a loan, the bank keeps the title till the car is paid off)So if you have the title check to see who's name is on it. that is what shows ownership of the car.If you have a loan, then the bank owns the car, not the grandmother or your fiance, so it really doesnt matter as long as you make the payments on the car.
 
First, if there is a "CO-OWNER" (co-buyer is a FALSE term), then ALL owners are co-owners. If BOTH names are on the title, BOTH have equal rights to the car. I would sell the car or simply GIVE it to her ASAP. If you NEED the value of his share and she refuses to cooperate, you can request the court to ORDER a sale to liquidate their defacto partnership.
