I have an opportunity to buy an excellent condition SUV. My only problem is it is a 2-wheel drive. It is a 2009 Ford Explorer with 40,000 highway miles. I know who has driven it since day one and has done all routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation, etc). The only reason they are selling is because the husband quit his job (this was a company vehicle only driven by him and his wife who do not have a heavy foot). The company bought this from a local big dealership. I live in Virginia which has a part in this... we have gotten lots of snow this year.
I can purchase the car for 15,000 which is 6,000 below Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, and NADA.
Do 2009 Ford Explorers hold up? Is this a great deal with 2 wheel drive? If I bought this car and drove it until winter (November/December) would I get my money back out of it? I would totally purchase it with 4-wheel drive or AWD, but am worried about the 2-wheel drive.
Thank you for all your help and advice in advance!
Plus this car has never been off-road. Never on a gravel road. (But I do live on a gravel road...) My family is not a mechanic family (from from it), but my dad looked under the hood - everything is perfect, spotless.
Thanks!
