Buying a new phone (Nokia TracFone)?

I want to get a new phone- not a new plan or anything just a phone. I have a Nokia 'Brick' TracFone (As seen here: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/_JamesPotter_/IMG000150.jpg )

I'm not very phone savvy because I didn't buy this phone. My mom gave it to me so she could get a new one. T_T But this thing is old and in some cases unresponsive to buttons being pressed and even thinks that the date is something in the future or in the past randomly. And if you've seen the picture, you're nodding your head telling me to upgrade.

I don't have a lot of money, so I'm wondering. Since this prepaid and all, I can just get a phone from Nokia and put the SIM card in it, right? Because I definitely don't have enough on my own to get a new phone and my parents won't buy me one I'm sure...

If I just bought of of those and put the sim card in it, it should work, yea?

Sorry if I sound REALLY stupid, phones are not my thing. I can text I can call, but other then that I'm clueless. xD
 
If you already have a tracfone, you can change the sim card out and your phone will work. Just dial #228 after you switch the cards. If your phone is very old, it may not have a SIM card, or it may be expired. Tracfone generally isn't the best company to go with unless you only have it for emergencies. A Tracfone SIM will only work in a Tracfone phone.
