Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 online multiplayer newbie?

So I'm getting Modern Warfare 2 this Monday and I really wanna try out the multiplayer. Thing is I'm new to this multiplayer business for the XBOX 360. Here are a few questions I have. It'll be appreciated if answered in order. Thanks:
1. Any tips, tricks, or advice for it?
2. If I'm good at single player, will I have a chance in mutliplayer?
3. Even if I do suck, will the other players say things like "You suck", "Don't ever play again", etc"
4. What's the level system of the game?

umm when you are running around quickly check your corners there could be campers(peaple who wait in corners and try to kill you). yes youll have a chance the first time i playe mwn online i sucked the 1st couple matches but youll get better after you get used to it. ummm yea i play search and destroy alot if your the last person alive and u die ppl tell you to get off but i have a headset so i can tell them there adopted and there parents dont love them etc. if u dont talk back you can mute individual players. theres a certain amount of xp for each level the higher the lvl the more xp it takes to get to the next lvl
the ways to get xp are

gettin kills and assists planting bombs
after u win or lose you get a match bonus
and u can do challenges for guns and equipment
